ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG !!!! I took the flower test and I turned out to be lupine, the most hated flower among icelandic biologists !! The humanity of it !

And of course, the test of the day:
Eowyn
Eowyn, sister-daughter of King Theoden of Rohan.
You are the shield-maiden of Rohan, a fierce
warrior, fair, but you have been hurt deeply.
You fear virtualy nothing, except being
forgotten.

Went out for lunch with my sisters Steingerður and Margrét. We ate delicious vegetarian food at the restaurant Grænn Kostur. MMMMMMMMmmmmmm. Must...eat.....more..... This evening I'm going to Keflavík where we are throwing a farewell party for my friend Sif Gunnarsdóttir. She is moving to Denmark (the lucky skunk) with her family and will be sorely missed. So, we'll eat, drink and be happy together and take a trip down memory lane. Hmmmm, some of those memories are not even printable.. almost unspeakable... Her performance as a psychotic nurse at a Halloween party some years ago is for example a very interesting memory. But we'll meet again, don't know when, don't know where, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day..

Would you believe its snowing today ??!?! Hrmmphhh. After all the nice warm days with sunshine, it is hard to get used to the cold, wet days again. Buhhhuuuhh.

Muahahahaa ! This picture really says it all, eh ?

At last some excitement in my life !! Yesterday I took the car and changed the tires from winter to summer tires. Weee ! Not to mention the oil change ! The greatest part was of course paying 10.000 IKR for the job. Sigh. Anyway, lovely weather yesterday, the sun was shining and there was no wind. So I went for a walk with my sister Steingerður and our daughters. We walked to Lake Elliðavatn and back, just a short walk to get the blood moving and our spirits up. The birdlife was of interest, as always, I had my binoculars with me and we saw several species of birds on and by the lake. Later that evening my friends Harpa and Sif visited. We just lay on the sofa and chatted, it was very cosy. Was happy when I went to bed, a great day :-)

Ohhh what a beautiful weeeeeekend....! Threw a little party on Saturday night, only me and 4 co-workers. We had loads of fun, ate chinese food and played Trivial Pursuit. To my joy and pleasure I won. Weeeeeee. Yesterday I went for a drive with my friend Ragnar, our daugher and his son. We saw a lot of migrating birds that are only stopping here before continuing their journey to N-America. We saw a large group of barnacle geese for example. I also caught a brief glance of a seal that was swimming near the shore when we stopped to let Hilda play by a waterfall (responsible parents, we sat in the car while she played in the cliffs next to the waterfall). Yesterday was also my mothers 71st birthday and me and Hilda went and brought her a rose and something to nibble. She was in high spirits, not looking a day older than the day before. Anyway, I'm off to a conference ! Tah dah !

Mmm, I would like to own a skunk. They look very nice, and if you have unwelcome guests, you can use your skunk to drive them away by spraying at them. Nice !

Hier kommt die Sonne.... Yesterday was the First day of Summer here in Iceland. Each year, the last thursday of april, we celebrate this public holiday, though usually the weather spells more winter than summer. Anyway, this winter has been one of the warmest in Iceland since the beginning of weather measurements so finally we had a First day of Summer that actually looks like a summer day. There are young leaves on the trees, grass turning green, temperatures up to 14° C in some parts of the country. Lovely !!!

Haha, I'm back, from outer space.... Lovely Easter vacation, too bad it had to end. Oh well, c'est la vie, c'est la vie. Anyway, I start the new day with yet another silly test:

Karl Urban: you like them tall, dark, sexy and fun.

Huh, one more thing. One can adopt an useless blob. My friend Björg has already done this, I urge you people to give it a try :-) Check out her blog-site, its listed above Gunnella in the Favourite blogger box

Hellooo ! Tomorrow I'll start my Easter vacation, and I wont return to work until the 23rd of April. I will try to get to a computer to blog a little, but if I can't manage that, I'll write again next week. Tahhh daaaaahhhhh !

Archeaologist have found a religious icon that is far older than any known before in the Americas. It was found on a piece of pottery in Peru. The deity depicted has a fanged mouth. In my opinion we are seeing the first picture of our friend Dracula. Vampires have been around for a long time...

Another day has dawned and NOTHING interesting has happened in my life. I did wash my fleece blanket yesterday, if anybody gets aroused by that. Sigh....

The new and improved porno Gladiator:

Hehehe, check this out: The ultimate in remote controls

One of my favourite tv shows, The Office, just got two BAFTA awards in Britain. The writer and star of the show, Ricky Gervais, got one for best comedy preformance and the show got one for being the best sitcom. Way to go !

Ricky Gervais with his awards

Quote of the day:
Diaper backward spells repaid. Think about it. Marshall McLuhan

Was reading an article on bbc.com. It was about the well meaning but misguided actions of people who find young animals on their own in nature. Frequently, people believe that the youngsters have been left alone and will die without help, and thus they take the animals home or to an animal shelter. What most people don't realize is that the parents are usually nearby. One should never remove any young animals from nature because their best chance of survival is with their parents in the wild. "Saving" them by taking them home could be their death. Here in Iceland it is most likely to find young birds because there are so few species of mammals here. Young birds that have left the nest are fed by their parents and often sit on the ground waiting. NEVER REMOVE A BABY BIRD FROM NATURE ! It is very difficult to keep them alive in captivity, and even harder to release them into nature again. Let nature do her job, leave the babies alone

Good moaning ! So, I survived yet another weekend. Yesterday I went to a confirmation party and ate waaaaay too much. Burp. But as I forgot to buy anything for breakfast, I guess my body must use up all the calories from yesterday to make up for that, thus there is no harm done :-)
Anyway, the latest stupid test:

I'm getting there. I don't suck, but I've got a ways to go.

Friday, April 11, 2003

Hellooo. Car back to normal, my friend Ragnar saved it yesterday. So, today I had a car and a happy smile on my face :-) A day of many meetings... and now I'm going to take pictures of a quarry near Esja. Exciting....

Hahahah. Some superstars, including Jennifer Aniston, Sheryl Crowe and Melanie Griffith, designed bras that are to be auctioned at southebys.com to raise money for breast cancer research. Jennifer designed the one at the top, people are wondering if the hands pictured are those of herself and her lovely husbands. MMmmmm, nice thought to have his hands providing support. Sheryl designed the one in the middle and Melanie the one at the bottom.

Ok ! Woke up in the middle of the night because the weather was too noisy. And my toilet was making funny sucking noises too. (That always happens during a storm, sometimes the bowl empties !). Anyways, the sound of furious rain hammering against my house soon lulled me to sleep again, but the consequences of the weather only became clear the next morning...... my car engine had gotten wet and I couldn't start the car. GRRRRRRRR. So here I am at work, MINUS one car, and feeling disagreeable. Hrpppmhh. So I decided to take the evil test that my fiend, oh I mean friend Björg sent me:

Fun fun fun !! Yesterdays meeting of the game club was great. I ate so much candy that my stomach was about to explode. We played a fun new game called Rapidough, similar to Pictionary, where you use clay to form a word and try to get your teammates to guess it. Too bad that the other team won ! I also cuddled the 3 guineapigs in residence, gví gví gví gví. Me likes me likes.

The latest test:

How horrible can it get ? This 12 year old boy was asleep with his family when their house got bombed by the US.
His whole family died and he lost his arms. Way to go Bush !

Axis of Evil Wannabees

by John Cleese

Bitter after being snubbed for membership in the "Axis of Evil", Libya, China and Syria today announced that they had formed the "Axis of Just as Evil", which they said would be "more evil than that stupid Iran-Iraq-North Korea axis" President Bush warned of in his State of the Union address. Axis of Evil members, however, immediately dismissed the new Axis as having, "for starters, a really dumb name". "Right. As if they are just as evil ... in their dreams!" declared North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. "Everybody knows we're the best evils? eh evilest? that we're the best." Diplomats from Syria denied they were jealous over being excluded, Although they conceded they had asked if they could join the Axis of Evil. "They told us it was full," said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. "An axis can't have more than three countries", explained Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. "This is not my rule, it's tradition. In World War II you had Germany, Italy, and Japan in the evil Axis. So, you can only have three. And a secret handshake. Ours is wickedly cool."

International reaction to Bush's Axis of Evil declaration was swift, as within minutes, France surrendered. Elsewhere, peer-conscious nations rushed to gain triumvirate status in what has become a game of geopolitical chairs. Cuba, Sudan and Serbia announced that they had formed the "Axis of Somewhat Evil", forcing Somalia to join with Uganda and Myanmar in the "Axis of Occasionally Evil", while Bulgaria, Indonesia And Russia established the "Axis of Not So Much Evil Really as Just Generally Disagreeable". With the criteria suddenly expanded and all the desirable clubs filling up, Sierra Leone, El Salvador, and Rwanda applied to be called the "Axis of Countries That Aren't the Worst But Certainly Won't Be Asked to Host the Olympics". Canada, Mexico and Australia formed the "Axis of Nations That Are Actually Quite Nice But Secretly Have Some Nasty Thoughts About America", while Scotland, New Zealand and Spain established the "Axis of Countries That Want Sheep to Wear Lipstick". "That's not a threat, really, just Something we like to do", said Scottish Executive First Minister Jack McConnell.

While wondering if the other nations of the world weren't perhaps making fun of him, a cautious Bush granted approval for most axis, although he rejected the establishment of the "Axis of Countries Whose Names End in 'Guay", accusing one of its members of filing a false application. Officials from Paraguay, Uruguay, and Norguay denied the charges. Norguays king Harald can't understand the rejection "I filled out the application myself"

Grey day, no energy. Didn´t want to get out of bed....but with an almost inhuman effort I managed to get up and brush my teeth. Jip, exciting life I lead. Duhh. Must...go....buy...candy...

A freak accident at work - I broke my coffee mug and spilled some coffee on my jeans in the process. Great. Now I smell of coffee and my darling Christmas coffee mug is gone, gone, gone, wooowoowooooo. Snuff. Still, my sheeps-and-pigs mug is still with us, and so is the ugly-pictures-of-hens-etc. mug.

Weird icelandic weather.... first rain, then snow and now sunshine ? All in the course of 15 minutes

HELLOOOOO ! Wonderful rainy morning in Reykjavík... At least Hilda went to school this morning, she's back in good shape. So, what happened this weekend ? On Friday evening we went ot see the dance show I mentioned earlier. It is called "Let the heart lead the way". It was great, the dancers were wonderful and the music very very special. We both enjoyed it very much. Saturday was rather quiet, we went shopping with my friend Sif in Smáralind and in the evening we played Trivial Pursuit with Ragnar, Hildas father. Sunday was great, we visited my sister Steingerður. We went for a walk there in Kópavogur where she lives, despite the weather being less than ideal. Hilda came with us on a kick bike. Steingerður invited us to dinner and we accepted right away, knowing her cooking ;-) We had roasted leg of lamb, mmmmmmmm. My sister Helen and her son Atli came to dinner too. Sunday evening I spent on the sofa watching TV with a full stomach and a happy grin on my face.

Friday, April 04, 2003

So yet another day has dawned, and my daughter is still sick ! There is so much pressure in her ears that sometimes she gets a stabbing pain and cries out. :-( Poor sod. Her fever is down to almost normal, so I hope she will be ready to go to school again on Monday. Tonight we are going to see a dance show, I hope she's up to it.

The hearts of young women across the globe are about to break......Russel Crowe is getting married today !

I find it neccessary to point out that my heart is in perfect working order ;-)

Thursday, April 03, 2003

This morning I woke up and looked at my daughter lying sleeping beside me. To my shock her teeth were covered with blood ! When I examined her I saw the cause, her lips had cracked because they became so dry from her breathing with an open mouth. Her nose is blocked and her throat is sore. Poor little bugger. But here I am at work, the baaaaad mother.

Wednesday, April 02, 2003

Good morning everyone !! My morning started with me finding out that my darling daughter is sick !! She has a fever of 38,5° C :-(( So I will go home after lunch to be with her. This is the third time this year that she gets sick, after a long period of good health. :-(((

Feeling weird, so I found something "wild" to publish.

Sexy beasts

Grrr. My blog is teasing me ! I can't get anything new to appear on the page. Bummer. Went out to take samples with my co-worker Magnea this morning. The weather was beautiful but cooooold ! Had to put my hands into freezing cold river water. Brrrrrd. 1,5° C water temperature and -2-2° C air temperature is not the ideal combo.

A silly icelandic test.... ah well, I'm braindead anyway:
