I've been tagged !

Hmm. Been hit by the latest craze in blogland. I've been tagged (klukkuð in icelandic), which means I have to list 5 useless facts about me. Hmm again...
  1. I sometimes clean my floors while nude.
  2. As a child I brought in a fence pole that I named Ægir, a beer bottle I named Billi, a wooden stirrer called Leifi and a tree branch named Stuttfótur. Those were all dear friends I refused to part with. Despite threats from my mother.
  3. When a very young child I believed that the giant steel robot depicted on the cover of Queen's "Out of this world" album was out to get me and crush me between his fingers.
  4. I have tibetan prayer flags hanging from the ceiling of my bedroom.
  5. I can't have a conversation with my sisters without being offensive, or sarcastic, or affecting a german accent, or saying You are ugly, or making clicking sounds with my tongue, or all of the aforementioned.

I guess I can't tag anybody, since all my friends have been tagged. Sigh.

Barcelona, food and fun !!!

I'm just back from my wunderbar trip to Barcelona with 6 friends :-) 7 girls travelling together, fun fun fun :-D We had an apartement facing the famous Gaudí church Sagrada Familia (which we dubbed Sígraða fjölskyldan in icelandic, means the ever-horny family). The church was lit up at night, very cool indeed. We bought tickets to a tourist bus that carried us around the city so we got to see the major sights. Then we walked down las Ramblas, the famous shopping pedestrian street. Barcelonians were celebrating the end of summer with a 3 day festival, which ment that a lot of street artists were preforming, large groups of people walked around playing drums and still others were dressed up as lobsters or dancing inside huge plastic bubbles :-) The festival had it's downsides, it meant that a lot of things were closed, only restaurants remaining open. We went into Sagrada Familia and took an elevator up to one of the towers, then walked the more than 400 steps down ! A very narrow staircase ! The church is only half finished, still they have been building since 1882 !!! Being 7 girls, we went shopping till we dropped too :-) Not to mention all the good food we ate ! Mmmmmmmmmm ! I look forward to our next trip !

Hawaii beer party at work

Yesterday we had a Hawaii-themed beer party at work. We had made paper-flower wreaths that we hung around the necks of the guests. Very cool :-) We served them coctails of Malibu and pineapple juice, complete with little umbrellas :-) Then we showed them a part of the musical film "South Pacific", with the song "Happy talking". Hehehe, very nice. Lot's of beer, lot's of snack, lot's of fun. Went downtown for a bit with some co-workers, chatted and had some snack to eat. Took a taxi home, EEEEEEK how expensive that has become !!! Ohmygosh ! Surprisingly, I was not very hung-over this morning. Aloha aloha !

A sick little Arna. Get better soooooon ! Posted by Picasa

A nice weekend :-)

I had a great weekend. Steingrímur was staying with us and he was more active an attentive than ever :-) Friday evening Sif, Gunna and Harpa came over and we played chinese rummy together with Hilda. Fun fun, Harpa won, we'll revenge later ! On Saturday was an autumn festival at Hilda's school. All sorts of fun things for the kids to do, cheap hot dogs for sale and Hilda and the other girls in 7th grade painted other kids faces. Afterwards we visited Svanhildur and family, needless to say that was a pleasant experience (except for Steingrímur maybe when Óli lay on top of him). I had dinner at my mothers place and then me and Hilda rented a film called Dogdgeball. Very nice :-) Always good to have a few laughs :-) Sunday we visited Sif and a sick little Arna, that was still pretty cheerful in spite of being rather poorly. May she get better soon !!!! Then we got invited to leftovers from a birthday party at Lilja's place, she is a friend of Júlíana and Matti. Mmmmmmm, she makes nice pizza buns :-) We rounded up the day by playing Carcassone with Júlíana. Unfortunately, she won. But we will kick her butt in Carcassone later ;-) Weeeell, good night for now !

More silly jokes :-)

  • I realised I was dyslexic when I went to a toga party dressed as a goat
  • The right to bear arms is slightly less ludicrous than the right to arm bears
  • Cats have nine lives. Which makes them ideal for experimentation
  • I saw that show, 50 Things To Do Before You Die. I would have thought the obvious one was "Shout For Help"
  • It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake
  • If you're being chased by a police dog, try not to go through a tunnel, then on to a little seesaw, then jump through a hoop of fire. They're trained for that

Barcelona is just around the corner !

Last Saturday my dear friend Harpa invited us over for dinner. The whole group (7 girls) that is going to Barcelona was assembled there and we had a great time, not to mention a delicious dinner :-) The evening was a warming-up before the great day. The trip is just two weeks away !!! Whooohooo ! The thought of being in a wonderful city in great company with lot's of cheap beer..... Lovely ! I keep browsing Barcelona websites, I've read travel books, I got a map of the city from a friend.... yes, you guessed right, I'm looking forward to this trip :-) Barcelona beware ! I'm coming !

Hahahahahahha :-)

I know I am a simple soul... I was thoroughly entertained by the following jokes:

DAVID Hasselhoff walks into a bar and says to the barman, "I want you to call me David Hoff". The barman replies "Sure thing Dave... no hassle."

A brain and a pair of jump leads walk into a bar. The jump leads take a seat and the brain gets the round in, but the bartender refuses to serve the brain.
"How come?" says the brain.
"Well," replies the bartender, "you're out of your head and your mate looks like he's gonna start something."

Pub quiz

Last Friday I went with my co-workers to a pub called Grand Rokk. Every Friday they host a pub quiz that is popular with nerds/besserwissers/weirdos/normal people like us (ehe). I teamed up with my co-worker Erpur. Together we managed to answer 12 questions out of 30, the winning team answered 18 so we were not that far off ! This was fun, we will definately repeat this again!

Lost in Lost

I made a fatal mistake last night. RUV was showing re-runs of the show Lost. And I foolishly decided to see one episode. I ended up seeing two, and I had to drag my self from the tv so I wouldn't see the third ! (RUV is showing 4 episodes at a time). OMYGOD, two episodes and I'm hooked ! Must see must see ! Am frantically racing to find someone that can give me access to some tapes or cd's with more episodes. I'm lost !
