A delicious weekend :-)

Wonderful weekend, especially in the culinary department! Friday night my friend Sif hosted a dinner party for the Barcelona gang. We were all there except Ella, that couldn't make it due to bad weather. Mmmmmm, we had chicken breasts stuffed with pesto, cream cheese and olives, with pasta salat with sundried tomatoes. Slurp ! Desert was ice-cream with berries. Very nice indeed :-) Saturday night my co-worker Erpur hosted a dinnerparty for all of us in the pollutions division. It was a like a scene from the movie "Babettes gæstebud". Each course was superb, starting with italian bread snacks, then salmon with delicious sauce. The main course was breasts of black seabirds, with risotto, sauce and potato cubes. I must add that each course was accompanied by excellent wine :-) Dessert was crepes suzettes with ice-cream and aztec hot chocolate with chili. MMMMMMMMMMMM ! Me liked a lot !! Both dinner parties were great for the stomach, and provided one with excellent company too :-) Hail to the chefs, way to go Sif and Erpur :-)

Evidence of a VERY close call !!! A lamp fell into Hilda's bed last night when she was fast asleep. It burned a huge hole in the mattress and produced a lot of smoke. Fortunately she woke before the whole bed caught fire !!!!!

Well, from USA comes the latest source of disgust, shock and disbelieve. Meet Lamb and Lynx, 13 year old ultranationalistic twins, raised by their proud parents to be racists from the day they were born. Now they are pop-stars, singing racist songs, praising Hitler and the Aryan race. Songs like Weiss, weiss, weiss, and one about Rudolf Hess are on the play list. GAAAAAA ! How sick can people get ???? Did I mention that their father adorns himself with swastikas all over ??? If they represent a supreme race, then I'm happy to be inferior !! Yet even if this is tasteless and disgusting, it is also strangely hilarious. I mean, racist teenage pop-twins ? Muahhahahahah.

Women women everywhere !

Women's day off in Iceland

Today I participated in a truly remarkable event. It's called the Women's day off, and was first held 30 years ago. Women stopped working that day, be it at offices or homes, and stormed into the center of Reykjavík, demanding equal rights and equal salary. 25.000 women shoved up that day, young and old, making it the biggest group meeting in the countries history. Today around 50.000 women joined the fight !! It was amazing to see, all these women gathered together in one place !!! All my sisters, my mother and my daughter were there. I must admit I was getting cold in the end, but it was worth a bit of discomfort. Go go girls !!!!!!!!!!!!

Babies babies all weekend :-)

Steingrímur was staying with me this weekend :-) I bought a foldable travel bed for him so he can sleep safe and sound, his increased mobility makes it very unsafe for him to stay in my bed. I took him with me to visit Svanhildur and family and it was great to see how much interest he showed Óli. Óli and Steinar were of course cute as ever :-) So, I got a lot of babies to hug this weekend :-) Too bad I couldn't add Arna Ösp to the collection :-) Next time, definately :-)

My sister's dog Freyja is two years old to day. To celebrate the occation my sister Steingerður invited me and mum over for dinner and cake :-) Freyja was very happy to get a present, I bought her a packet of dried fish :-) Steingrímur Páll was with me and Freyja kissed him when she learend the were the same age and he just had his birthday ;-) Very nice evening, I'm sure that this was a birthday to remember for Freyja :-)

I've been tickled !

Ok ! The latest craze in blogland has hit me. I must list 5 things I can't for the life of me do. So here it goes:

1. I can't for the life of me stand people that think too slow
2. I can't eat crab meat, even at gun point
3. I can't watch embarrassing scenes in movies without feeling bad myself or even covering my face in the worst cases.
4. I can't hear disgusting stories without gagging
5. I can't stand Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn, our most disgusting political group,íík

So there. All done.

Scrabble night at the Mávahlíð household

Sunday evening we had our first Scrabble night at Svanhildur's new apartment. As usual, we brought way to much candy, ice-cream and cake. Yes, and as usual, we gobbled it like we had not been fed for days :-) Mmmmm. Óli was happy to get attention from all his maternal aunts at the same time, and Steinar was passed around so everybody got their share (after some hissed warnings and threats of violence). Great evening, must go to gym 20.000 times to make up for the calories though :-)

Visiting Arna Ösp (yes, and her parents too, I guess)

Me and Hilda swung by for a visit(visits..) to Arna Ösp and co. last weekend. The former Miss Sick Girl is once again Miss Party Animal :-) She was unstoppable, climbing around in the sofa, laughing and chatting :-) I was lucky enough to steal a little of Sif's wonderful chicken lasagne to make the visit perfect. I think Bjarni was a little panicky when we turned up for a second visit, probably thought we were moving in ! Well, we just might..... MUAHAHAHHAHAH ! I'm sure Arna won't mind :-)

Steingrímur Páll, 2 years old !!!!!

Steingrímur Páll turned 2 on the 14th of October :-) The little guy has been making some excellent progress the past weeks, he has started crawling !!! Yes, while at his day care center he crawled across the room ! He usually goes shorter distances, but he can do this and will only continue to get better at it :-))) Of course he had to do this before his birthday, must show that he is a big boy ! The birthday bash was held last Sunday. He got loads of gifts, among them a huge truck almost bigger than him :-) Lot's of toys and clothes :-) Mmmmm, and there were some GREAT cakes there. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ! Ate WAY too much, just couldn't stop. Steingrímur couldn't stop either, he had lot's of birthday cake, washed down with apple juice :-) So, next weekend I will be having a two year old over ! Looking forward to it !!
