Gurrí and Steinka having a jolly good time :-) Posted by Picasa

Burn baby burn, disco inferno !! A suspicious fire was started in Akranes while I was there Saturday. But I do have an alibi, I promise !!! Posted by Picasa

Weekends are good for recharging batteries :-)

Yet again a great weekend :-) The fun started Friday when I had dinner with my friend Sif. We bought grill spears with lamb and pork, salad and baked potatoes and some ice cream for dessert. We devoured all this with style, but were forced to lie the rest of the evening in the sofa with Overeaters Anonymous on the speed dial ! BURP. Maybe we should have settled for a smaller portion :-) Sif put the Muppet Show, season 1 in the DVD and we had so much fun, taking a trip down memory lane :-D. Saturday I showed up at 11 in the morning (yaaaawn) to partcipate in a cleaning and beautification program in my neighbourhood, arranged by the new mayor of Reykjavík. I spent two hours picking up garbage and then, having done my civic duty, left for Akranes with my sister Steingerður. Once there we picked up our friend Gurrí and went to a museum where we saw a great rock and mineral collection. Many of the stones were found when they were digging the Hvalfjörður tunnel. Great collection, I recommend seeing it. When we were leaving we spotted a fire by the outskirts of the town. We were curious enough to drive over there to look, but then left to buy something yummy at the bakery. The afternoon was spent in Gurrí's heaven where we feasted on pastries, drank coffee and chatted away. Saturday evening it was party time !!! Árni, my friend Silla's husband, was celebrating his 40th birthday in Hafnarfjörður. We had a great time, drinking mead, beer etc, and eating great meat soup. The party had a viking theme, the birthday boy was in full gear :-) Sunday was rather relaxed. I went shopping with Sif until we both were to sleepy to continue. In the evening I went to Júlíana and we played Carcassone and Ingenious and surprisingly ate mostly carrots ! So, fun fun fun and a lot of activity ! Must go to bed early, still tired after the weekend !

Computer problem

Due to some serious health problems my computer isn't making posting very easy for me. The darn thing turns itself off without warning and the screen sometimes is dark brown so I can hardly see anything. Mrrrd. Anyways, just spent a fortune on fixing the car so I'm not in the mood for paying for computer repairs. So heal yourself computer ! Well, enough ranting, off to bed. More posts later. Final note, saw the Da Vinci Code, thought it was good, saw the Break-up.. rent it on a slow night.

A wonderful weekend :-)

Friday evening my friend Ágústa invited the "gang" over for dinner in Mosfellsbær. Me, Sif, Gunna, Harpa and Sonja all showed up. Only Ella couldn't make it. We had a wonderful time chatting, eating great food and drinking a little alcohol. Unfortunately I was to tired to go downtown with the girls, I just went home to bed. Thank you Ágústa for a super evening :-) Saturday I spent relaxing with Hilda and visiting Svanhildur and co and Sif and co :-). I was still so tired after the day that I fell asleep after dinner, at 19:30 !! Sunday I went with mother and Svanhildur and co. to Húsafell to visit my sister Magga and her husband. The weather was lousy on the way up there, but got better in the evening. We played Scrabble of course (and I won, of course :-)), had wunderbar dinner (grilled lamb leg, chicken and the works) and enjoyed the two cute little boys that always remain the center of attention :-) We drove home in sunshine, poor mother rather tired of driving, but we made it home happy and content. A weekend to my liking :-)

A little trip to Þingvellir

Yesterday I took a little trip to Þingvellir with my mother and my sister Magga. The weather was just lovely, a little sunshine, warmth and nooo wind :-) The lake was so still that you could use it as a mirror. We took a short walk to the old Þingvellir farm and the church. We went inside the church, it is the first time I've been inside the church since it's never been open before. A typical, tiny icelandic country church :-) Then we went to the graveyard and looked at the names and dates on the headstones. A lot of people lost babies in the old days :( We enjoyed seeing geese with young playing by the riverside :-) A wonderful diversion, a short break from the city.

A hole in my head and a garden party

Yesterday I took a big step...17 years after getting my right ear pierced, I went ahead and had my left ear pierced ! Yes, I know it's silly that I only had one ear pierced for so many years, but hey, it was the latest fashion fad at the time I did it ! And I only had single earrings so... Well, now I wont hear people exclaiming that I've lost my earring as has happened so many times over the years :-) Well, after getting a hole in my head I went with my mother to visit my nephew Andri (Steinka's son). He and his girlfriend have just moved into their first apartment together :-) That apartment is really nice and cozy and was soon filled with female relatives, since all 5 sisters managed to gather there. After tormenting the young couple for a while, we all gathered in Steinka's garden. There we enjoyed refreshments and coffee while cuddling little Steinar :-) It was a happy and relaxed Svava that climbed the stairs that evening, yet another great day.

Akranes and a visit to Heaven

Yesterday was a great day :-) I went to Akranes with my sisters Steingerður and Helen, and Gurrí, Steingerður's co-worker and my blogfriend :-) Poor Gurrí was picked up by Helen that had too low blood sugar (she is diabetic) and was not really making any sense, laughing like a maniac. Gurrí just thougt she was funny ! Well, they sorted all that out and they picked me up at work. We drove to Kjalarnes because we wanted to stop at a shop operated by a brazilian woman in her home in Grundarhverfi. Oh, what a wonderful place ! She had gorgeous earrings, bath bombs, bath oils, massage oils, semi-precious stones, candles etc. ! We all went wild in there and all bought ourselfs a lot of stuff :-) I bought some nice earrings, a bathbomb and a turtle pedant. We are definately going there again :-) After tearing us with difficulty from that great place we drove to Akranes for some coffee at Gurrí's place. Unfortunately she lives on the forth floor, but it was worth it after I managed to climb up the stairs. The apartement, that she calls her heaven, was so great. She has a wonderful view of the ocean, the beach Langisandur and in the distance Reykjavík and the Reykjanes peninsula. And she has two very cuddly cats :-) One the size of a small tiger ! Cuddle cuddle cuddle :-) After a cozy time with good coffee we made a brief stop at a market set up because of the Irish days festival. Unfortunatly they were closing up, so we said goodbye to Gurrí and headed back home. But we'll be back later, Gurrí has promised to be our guide to the town's stone collection and more fun activities. I look forward to that :-) Me and Helen rounded up a wonderful day by getting invited to dinner at Steingerður's place. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, that woman can cook (contended sigh). Thanks for a great day girls !

That fateful day, 31. March 2006...

The fateful wall I was climbing and jumped from, resulting in disaster. Note, I was not as high up as the person in this picture, and I jumped down on the safety mattress. Fnys. Posted by Picasa

Dream a little dream...

My dreams have always been weird. Yesterday I was talking to my friend Sif and she was telling me that the profile of her unborn baby resembled her fathers in the sonogram. Well, I went to sleep and I dreamt that Sif had given birth to a baby girl, that was no less than an exact copy of her father. In fact, she had his face just as he looks today ! The baby was wearing a lace bonnet that made a nice frame around the masculine face !! Hopefully, the baby will be a little more babylike :-)
