The little guy fell asleep in my arms (múshímúshí) Posted by Picasa

Golden girl :-)

Well, this was a great weekend. On Friday it was beer night at work, loads of fun :-) On Saturday I had a little birthday party, got nice presents and great company. Thanks girls !!!! On Sunday Hilda was competing yet again. She held her ground in hardening competition and snatched one medal, this time the gold in pole jumping :-) Proud mum ! Unfortunately I forgot the camera, but believe you me, she was looking great, holding the pole like a professional :-) Vala Flosa, eat your heart out :-) And this evening my darling Steingrímur came for an overnight stay. He is sleeping soundly here beside me in bed, high cuteness factor. And now off to sleep, happy and content.

Cosy time with Brad Posted by Picasa

Dirty-four and feeling just fine

Yesterday was my 34th birthday. I was awakened by my only child at 7:00 with a birthday song and hugs and kisses :-) She gave me a John Grisham novel and a picture she drew herself. Very nice :-) My friend Helga at work gave me a lovely necklace she made out of paperclips :-) I wore it proudly all day :-) In the evening I went to a restaurant with Hilda, my sister Svanhildur and her family. We rounded dinner up with ice-cream and I then went home, happy and content. I got e-mail greetings, sms's, phone calls and msn conversations from people wishing me happy birthday and then there were those that gave me the greetings live :-) Me basking in the attention, yes yes :-) And those that forgot to wish me happy birthday of course wound up on my death list. Muahahahhahah, you didn't really think advanced age would make me soft ??

Back from Denmark - nothing was rotten there, not even their cheese :-)

Got back from Denmark this afternoon, after an irritating two hour delay due to a de-ising queue at Kastrup airport. The trip was good, though at times a bit tiring. I flew to Kastrup on Tuesday, and foolishly walked to the domestic terminal for my connecting flight. Yes, I now know it lies far from the international terminal, and yes, I know there is a free bus that drives there (never you mind !). I flew with Cimber Air (no, never heard of that airline before) to Jylland, to Karup airport. There a taxi awaited me to take me to Låsby Kro, the hotel I had booked outside Silkeborg. The hotel turned out to be a nice old country inn with later time additions that both had comfort and rustic charm. I ate a delicious dinner there, mmm, and the portions were not small no no no. MMMmmmm. Only downside was that the room was freezing cold. And I couldn't get myself out of the warm bed to go to the reception to complain. Ah well. The next morning I shared a taxi with a ridiculously beautiful man to Silkeborg. Mmmm, that was a pleasant experience. Too bad I had to leave him in Silkeborg ! I took the train to Herning where I spent the day at Agromek 2005, a huge agricultural equipment expedition. I was there with bank executives from the bank that owns one pig farm that I monitor. We looked at various solutions for odour problems from pig farms. In the afternoon I flew back to Copenhagen and was picked up by my friend Hildur. I stayed with her and her boyfriend Sören. Sören and my friend Jakob made dinner, Sören maybe being a little to enthusiastic, as he cut his finger badly during the culinary exercises. Jakob took him to the hospital after dinner to have him stitched together again. Mmmm, dinner was gooood. The next morning I overslept ! Still, I got my butt out of the house and I visited the usual haunts in Copenhagen; Miljöstyrelsen (the Environmental agency), Miljökontrollen (Environmental office) and others. It was freezing cold in the city, so I had to flee into a pub to warm up over a beer :-) Hildur and Sören met me there and I went with them to a couple of game shops, and bought two mini extentions for Carcassone (yes, I know I am obsessed !). Repeat delicious dinner in the evening, without Sören cutting into any parts of his body though :-) Then this morning it was good-bye, snuff snuff ! But I threatened to visit again.... I could see them running out of the airport screaming... MUAHAHHAHAHAHHAH

Proud mum yet again :-)

On Saturday Hilda participated in her first athletics competition in the age group 13-14 years old. She will turn 13 in February. And as usually she did fantastic. She got two medals, a bronze for shot (kúluvarp) and a silver for high jump :-). She also did well in other things, 5th place in long jump and 4th in the 800 m dash. Proud proud proud mum :-)

Always good to know which David Hassehoff I am

Baywatch Hasselhoff

You are Baywatch Hasselhoff. You're up for running around on the beach with hotties, as well as tanning, smiling, and being as buff and sexy as being Hasselhoff will allow. You also like to think that you've actually saved a few lives as a lifeguard; but that's just the product of some other, far more sinister, psychological "quirk."

Dad relaxing in his chair last Christmas Posted by Picasa

My father's birthday

Today my father would have turned 85, had he lived. We went together to the graveyard and placed white tulips on his grave and a candle. It was biting cold and dark in the graveyard but most of the graves had christmas lights on them so the surroundings were in no way bleak. It is nice to get an outlet for ones grief by going to the grave and have a moment of reflection. Today would also have been the birthday of my friend's Kristin's father. May they both rest in peace.
