Sunshine, sunshine boogey ! It´s summer in Reykjavík !! It's 10° C outside, sunbathing weather. Yesterday I spent tearing down the old and disgusting kitchen unit at my sisters place. Mouldy cupboards, dead bugs and lots and lots of dust and dirt. Yuk ! Still, it's kinda fun to tear something down, you get rid of some built up tension that way. You can imagine that some old wooden board is your boss and then attack it with fury. Here ! Take that you #$&#&$% and that, haha ! $&%$%$ ! :-) Fun, but my hands were all torn afterwards and my body aching. Ah, well, I'll survive :-)

Fun fun fun yesterday. The Game Club munched on vegetables and candy (good combo) while playing various games until past midnight ! Very impressive :-) We played a game where we are supposed to grow a vegetable garden. Some vegetables were good, others were bad and gave minus points. The Game Club has rented a real vegetable garden where we intend to plant potatoes so the game could be viewed as preparation for that :-) Then we played a fun word game related to Rummy, where you have cards with letters and must make words out of them. Since the game is designed for the english language, it took a while to play because of spell checking :-) A great evening, but then all Game Club evenings are. Happy !

Well, I always knew that punk wasn't really me:

I am 14% Punk Rock

It's not a fashion craze, or even a cool thing to do. I should just swallow it, get Lost, and take my friends with me.

Ah the humanity of it !! Was gathering samples with Magnea this morning when the heavens opened and water came splashing down. I was wet and miserable. Grrrr. Not to mention the fact that the area used to be a garbage dump and the water we were sampling reeked of rubbish. Yuk. But now I'm inside, it's nice and warm and my hair is finally dry.

Allooooo
Saturday I spent travelling in S-Iceland, where the events of one of the Icelandic Sagas are supposed to have taken place. The Saga is called Njálssaga, nicknamed Njála. All my sisters, my daughter, one sister-daugher, mother and my sisters grandchild came too. The weather was moody but at least we didn't get much rain. I saw a lot of birds along the way, a bonus in addition to seeing the historical sites. In the evening I went to an Eurovision Party at my friend Magneas place. FUN FUN ! We sat there and made fun of the songs and the singers. When Iceland got 12 points (happened twice) some person in the next building sent up some fireworks. Booom ! Sunday I spent going to the airport to pick up Hildas father and spending some time with him. And for the most exciting event of the weekend : Sunday evening I washed my fleece blanket !

The girls that didn't get chosen cried and sobbed !!!!!!!!!! And the one that got the prize was soooooo happy, this was all so wonderful !! Is being a Playboy Playmate of the Month really something young girls dream of an pine for in USA ????

Love is in the air, everywhere you look around.....

Phew ! Took an hour to get into the editing page for my blogg, the browser kept insisting it couldn't find the page anywhere. Was beginning to panic then voilá ! The weather is lovely and I took a walk with my co-workers before lunch to enjoy it. One is tempted to call in sick on a day like this to be able to get outside. Sigh, still 3 hours of work left. Hilda is playing at a concert at 18:00, hope I can catch a short nap before that starts. Still sleepy, like I've been all week. Must....get....sleep....

The Blönduós Diaries ;-P

Weeeee ! I´m in Blönduós ! I managed to find Gunnellas house, under the watchful eyes of the towns inhabitants. Hmmmm, small town anyone....strange car in town...gaze gaze gaze.... If I´m asked I´ll tell people that I know Gunnella from my time as a director of pornographic films where she starred under the name "Pussy Hopalot". Muahhahaha. We are going to kill a few beers tonite, and then paint the town red. That will take care of the first 5 minutes of the evening... ok ok, no more small town jokes. Just experienced a very well behaved 7th birthday party...suspect that Gunnella put some sedatives in the cake :-)))

Looking up at the stars, I know quite well
That, for all they care, I can go to hell,
But on earth indifference is the least
We have to dread from man or beast.

How should we like it were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return?
If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.

Admirer as I think I am
Of stars that do not give a damn,
I cannot, now I see them, say
I missed one terribly all day.

Were all stars to disappear or die,
I should learn to look at an empty sky
And feel its total dark sublime,
Though this might take me a little time.

Hmmmm, this makes me wonder.... those tests are more accurate than I thought..

marquis
You are the Marquis Da Sade. Even stripped of
exaggerations, Your real life was as dramatic
and as tragic as a cautionary tale. Born to an
ancient and noble house, you were married
(against your wishes) to a middle-class heiress
for money, caused scandals with prostitutes and
with your sister-in-law, thus enraging your
mother-in-law, who had you imprisoned under a
lettre de cachet for 14 years until the
Revolution freed you. Amphibian, protean,
charming, you became a Revolutionary,
miraculously escaping the guillotine during the
Terror, only to be arrested later for
publishing your erotic novels. You spent your
final 12 years in the insane asylum at
Charenton, where you caused another scandal by
directing plays using inmates and professional
actors. You died there in 1814, virtually in
the arms of your teenage mistress.
You are a revolutionary deviant. I applaud you.

My life is sooooooo interesting. Yesteday I got a saleswoman to come to my house to promote her lovely environmental friendly cleaning rags. Jip, and 4 suckers showed up. They get a mark in my book for that. Thanks to me, they will now have a clean home ever after. Just like my home. Ehhhhh. Never mind.

Penis man !!!!!!

So, SARS continues to wreak havoc in Asia. The disease was initially reported in the beginning of April and the world has been on red alert since then. Some think precautions have been over-excessive and the epidemic will never be a threat for the world community. The fact remains that 20% of patients die of the disease, so maybe we should take it seriously. Mass histeria is not helpful, but turning the blind eye is even worse. The SARS saga continues....when will the first icelandic case be reported ?

Sheesh, another fangirl. Well, I dont blame you.
How can any woman resist a sexy body, and the
ruggedness that is Wolverine? Hes a loner by
nature, a heavy drinker, and is plagued by
memories of his past...or lack thereof. It may
take time to work your way into his heart, but
when you do, he'll do anything for his woman.
Just be careful, he has a tendency to stab

Hmmmm. The elections are over and the results were as I feared: Same majority held. Blöööh. Anyway, working at the polls was fun but I was very tired after 14,5 hours of work. That didn't stop me from going downtown with my friends to go pubcrawling. Must admit I was close to falling asleep on the wheel on my way home at 4:00 am ! Sunday was nice and cozy. First I went for a drive with my friend Raggi, Hilda and her brother Heimir. We went to the graveyard in Hafnarfjörður and visited the grave of Raggis grandfather. Then we visited his aunt and the children played in the garden. In the afternoon I went to a restaurant with my friend Gunnella and her family. It was great, good food and great company.

Hello ! Busy day ! Tomorrow is election day here in Iceland, we are going to see if we vote for the same old shit or if we actually get something fresh and new. Atþingi, our parliament, is supposedly the oldest of its kind in the world. The same goverment has reigned for 12 years, I hope they won't be elected for another 4 !!! Tomorrow I'll be working at the polls all day, so I'll experience the elections first hand. I won't be home to hear any results until 23:00. Did this last year too. I'll be there from 8 in the morning. We get free food, weeeeeeee ! But one is very tired at the end of the day. The pay of 19.000 IKR lured me to this, rather than the more loftier goal of serving my country.....

Old memories surface. I was a member of a X-files club back when the show was very popular. Every week, me and my girlfriends met at my place and cooked som dinner, then sat down and watched Mulder and Scully in action. There was only one rule in this club: Mulder is the greatest ! Nobody was allowed to say a bad word about him. Needless to say, we were overjoyed when this picture was featured in magazines around the world:

Lovely Mulder, lovely memories...

Quiet morning. Our boss is sick but we had a short department meeting anyway. Bought myself a melon for lunch, yummy. Aha, I know, a boring life. Never mind !

Here is af fact for you to chew on: Murder is the most common cause of death of pregnant women in the USA. 20% were murdered !!! I´ve been following the case of Laci Peterson, an 8 months pregnant woman that was reported missing on Christmas Eve, from her home in Modesto, California. Her remains and those of her unborn son washed ashore the 14th of April. Her husband has been charged with their murder. She was 27 years old. Since her body was found, CNN has reported two other murders where the victims were women 8 months pregnant. Somehow, even though murder is always horrible, the thought of murdering a pregnant woman is just so awful and shocking. And to think that murder is the greatest danger for pregnant women in the States ? Ííík !

Laci Peterson

So, yesterday was game club night. Unfortunately, the luck wasn't on my side so I never won. Helga, my co-worker, told us she made a deal with her boyfriend. He wouldn't think of her the whole evening so she would win, in accordance with the saying: Unlucky in cards, lucky in love. Thus if he pretended he didn't care she would be unlucky in love and lucky in cards instead. And it worked !!! Hmmmmm, that means I should have a secret admirer...at least I haven't noticed any luck in love around me lately. As always we joked and gossiped, and I dropped the hamster on the cellery. Yes, I really did drop a hamster on the chopped vegetables that I was offering my guests as snack. Not very hygienic for a public health officer eh ?

This evening the girls from my game club will come to my house to play. Weeeeeee !!!! Me likes, me likes ! I better go buy some chow for the evening, things could get nasty if they show up and find no snacks on the table....

Spent the morning by going to a conference on environmetal management in the printing industry. The speakers were very good, except for one that was giving his vision of the future of the printing industry. He talked about us having a home-helper that was a diary and a vacum cleaner. Jip, I'd like to have those two things combined. Anyway, the guy sitting next to me had an interesting and very annoying habit: He put his fingers over his nose and his breath made a hissing sound as he let it out between the fingers. Another news flash: One of the most annoying aspects of the internet, spam, is 25 years old this weekend. Net historians have trawled records and found that the first junk e-mail message hawking a company or its wares was sent back in 1978. Coincidentally, the first commercial spam sent to Usenet discussion groups was sent a little over 10 years ago. Now spam is thought to account for up to 40% of all e-mail messages sent across the net and many industry groups, companies and technologists are uniting to fight the flood.

A Monty Python sketch led to junk mail being called spam

We bitch about the weather a lot here in Iceland but one problem we don't have and that's twisters/tornados. At least 38 people were killed in USA and towns were wiped out as a deadly swarm of tornadoes raged across Kansas (Dorothy isn't in Kansas anymore !), Missouri, Arkansas and Tennessee. Gorgl !

Ahhh finally....the most useless test ever !

Lovely weekend ! It was quite uneventful until Sunday, when I went for a walk with Hilda and my sister Steingerður. We went to the fjord Hvalfjörður and walked along the banks of the river Brynjudalsá. The sun was shining, we found flowers in the hills and saw some beautiful waterfalls and rock formations. We decided to cross a bridge and walk back to the car on the other bank of the river, as we remembered that there was another bridge further up the river. Only when we came to the spot where we could see the car on the other side of the river we realized that the other bridge was still VERY far away ! Not wanting to walk that far we decided to wade across the river. My sister took of her socks and shoes and started wading without a moments hesitation. Only she forgot that river stones can be very slippery......and the next thing I knew she was sitting on top of some stones in the river, wet from the waste down !!! :-)) Needless to say, me and Hilda laughed our head off :-) I managed to get me and Hilda across the river in a mostly dry condition. Steingerður had to sit on her sweater on the way back so the car seat wouldn't get wet :-) Ahhh, the great outdoors....

Zo, spent the whole day working on special work processes for my department. We went to a place nearby where we had a room to ourselves and spent all day brainstorming. And eating fruits, nuts and vegetables :-) Mmmmmm. We also ate at an italian restaurant for lunch. Burp. So, now it's weekend once more, me likes me likes ! Hopefully something exciting will happen during the weekend, then I'll have something to write about next Monday :-) Tah dah !
