A weekend stay in the Westfjords

On Friday I flew to Ísafjörður, the biggest town in Vestfirðir (Westfjords). I was there to measure noise from a café due to numerous complaints. The public health office in the area does not own a sound level meter, so they "borrowed" me to do the job. I spent the nights at Hótel Ísafjörður in a nice bed and eating great dinner :-) The local health inspector, Anton, took me sightseeing, this being my first visit to this part of the country. I got to see the towns Súðavík, Flateyri, Suðureyri and Bolungarvík. I must come back this summer to explore the area, the mountains and the nature is just amazing. The weather was excellent, not a hint of wind and sunshine all day. Wunderbar ! We got the job done, and today I flew back to Reykjavík, happy after a good trip :-)

A birthday dinner and more

Today I took Steingrímur with me to visit my sister Steinka. We enjoyed some very nice refreshments, including a yummy cake that he ate with pleasure (as opposed to his enthusiasm eating dinner). Freyja the dog greeted us heartily, as always :-) The two cats were resting and couldn't be bothered to greet us, but instead looked adoreable on the bedsheet :-) In the evening I went to a slightly delayed birthday dinner for Hilda. Her father, his wife, her brother, my mother, my sister Svanhildur and her family were all there. Mmmm, nice pizza and nice company :-) I polished off the day by cleaning the rabbit cage and the lobster tank. Much achieved today :-)

Steingrímur Páll is staying with me this weekend. I took him for a visit to my sister Svanhildur today. I was happy about that, had 3 boys to cuddle in one afternoon :-) Óli was in a good mood as always, and his little brother was constantly smiling as usually. Steingrímur showed off his skills by standing up and walking round furnitures with hand support. He also took my hands and walked with my help, he is getting good at this ! :-) Enjoy the pictures of the 3 beautiful guys :-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ! HILDA MARGRÉT 13 YEARS OLD !

Happy birthday my lovely Hilda !!! At 19:08, on a Tuesday some 13 years ago, my daughter was born. Today she is speeding towards adulthood, my little baby ! She got a digital camera from her parents and was very happy with that gift :-) In the afternoon there was a party where the girls were all dressed up like movie, television or cartoon characters. I will post some pictures tomorrow :-) She was Cat woman :-)

I've got to move it, move it...

Argh ! I suffer from the lack of good exercise ! My problem is that every time I take a walk or a swim, my hip and legs hurt :-( Yes, I know, they shoot horses and everything, but I'd like to think I have a couple of miles left on my meter. Obviously, I need to do something to enable me to move without pain. So, I have to make a doctors appointment in the morning. By writing it down here I might actually remember ! During the weekend I did move my butt a little. I took a walk with my sisters dog, Freyja. 2,7 km. I admit Freyja was a little more enthusiastic about the walk in the beginning, it being rainy, but after a short while I really begun to enjoy it. I like taking walks, so imagine my irritation on Monday morning when I woke up with a bad hip :-( Must power down and get an upgrade, then I'll climb mountains :-)
