Ho ho ho ! Guess what ! I actually "ran" (walked) 5 km at Kvennahlaup ÍSÍ (Womens run). Wee, I am a hero !!

Weee, the weekend is coming !!! Tomorrow I participating in the yearly Women Run, where you can choose distances from 2-9 km. Guess what I'm going to choose :-) Tonight I´m going to a cozy get-together at my cousins place, mmmm, there will be some nice snacks there. Sunday is still free.... who knows what happens then ? Tah dah for now !

Something I just had to share with you, hahahhahahahah:

This morning I sent my daughter to summer camp for the first time. My little baby, snuff snuff. Actually, she didn´t even look back but said "Bye mom" and hurried into the bus. Hmmm. Anyways, a whole week alone. Party party party !!! Yesterday was Iceland's National Day, when we celebrate the time when Iceland became a republic. I spent some time in the centre with Hilda, despite the rain and cold. Is a tradition, nobody really knows why they do it. You are usually miserable all the time, because it's rarely good weather the 17th of June !

A PROUD ANNOUNCEMENT: I have now joined the elite group of people that have reached the top of the mountain Esja !! Never mind the fact that it took me 2 hours and 10 minutes, while most people take little over an hour :-) This happened yesterday, the 15th of June, 2003. Mark this day in the history books :-) Saturday I spent at a family grill party for the employees here at the Environmental Protection Agency of Reykjavík. We went to a small valley near the outskirts of Reykjavík, where we grilled some hot dogs and relaxed in the sun. Veeeery nice. Saturday evening I went to a dinner party arranged by my friends Sif and Gunna. We ate leg of lamb with the works and some ice cream with hot sauce as dessert. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Yummy. Also invited were other girls from the gang and of course we spent the evening chatting about sex and boys and related stuff. Some of us had a bit too much to drink, for a change it wasn't me ! So, all in all a nice weekend, although my back is complaining a bit about yesterday. I blame it on my advanced age !

Arrrrrrrrrrrgggggg. Yesterday I almost killed myself planting potatoes. My knees are obviously not designed for this kind of work :( My muscles have also complained about my use/abuse of them yesterday. I think the body is trying to send me a message: EXERCISE !

Great weather again !!! Today I'm going to plant some potatoes in a valley called Skammidalur. I've already ruined my body digging up the garden, this is just the final step. Mmmm, I look forward to eating lovely new potatoes this autumn. They taste sooooo good. We've also rented a small garden near my home where I'll plant some vegetables. Munch munch !

Wow !! Its WARM in Reykjavík ! The sun is shining and it's 17°C ! People are walking round half naked. The weekend was great. Hildas father is living with me for the moment and his son visited us over the weekend. He is so cute :-)) But he wakes up rather early. So Monday moring, when he had returned to his mother, I slept until 14:00 !!! On Sunday we drove Hilda to a summerhouse near Laugavatn, S-Iceland. She was going to spend some time there with her friend. Me and Ragnar (Hildas father) then drove to a place where his company is planning to have a family outing, to look at the available accomodations. It was a long drive and the little boy was very tired at the end of the day. I went to the movies twice this weekend. First I saw Anger management with Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson. It was very funny, Nicholson rules :-) Then yesterday I saw Identity, with John Cusack (cute), Ray Liotta (getting older) and Amanda Peet. It was quite good, but the ending was a let-down. Well, must get back to work !

Jibbí !! A long weekend ahead !! Ahhhhh, no monday morning next week ! Just sleep, sweet sleep............. My daughter got her grades today :-) She was the best in her class, got 9 or 10 for everything. Me likes, me likes. I bought her a surprise gift as a reward, 3 Game Boy Colour games. Methinks somebody will be very happy tonight, yes yes. And she deserves it ! She has the brains from her mom (her father rarely visits this page so it's safe to write this, he he).

So now I've tried everything !! Yesterday my friend Gunnella came over and I dyed her hair !! No, I know, I'm not a beautician ! And to say the least, this was not a very professional job, ehe. At least I managed to get most of the black spots from her face :-) She is going to UK for a month, better be spotless for that trip, heheh. Thank God for those plastic gloves that came with the colour, otherwise things would have turned out nasty indeed.

Inspection at a pig farm this morning. Me and my co-worker Kristín Lóa were very fragrant when we returned. YUK ! The smell of hog manure is probably the worst in the world. We were at another pig farm yesterday but there are no more farms of this kind in Reykjavík so our noses will have a well deserved rest for awhile.

Yesterday my daughter Hilda climbed the mountain Esja near Reykjavík !! I'm very proud, the last leg of the climb is very difficult and the trail up the mountain is very steep. My little athletic girl :-)

Lovely weekend !
Saturday I went jeeping with the people at work. 6 jeeps, 20 persons but no dogs this time. We drove around on Hellisheiði, an area filled with geothermal activity close to our dear Reykjavík. The tracks we were driving are a little rough and the jeep I was in scraped the ground in the worst places. Still, we escaped with only minimum of damage. We stopped close to a hot spring cluster and grilled some hot dogs. The only downside was the rainy weather but we were all dressed accordingly so no one was miserable. We ended the trip by driving to the beach by Eyrarbakki, where we saw two seals swimming in the surf. Saturday evening I went to a birthday party. My friend Sif turned 32. The house was filled with guests, we had lots of white wine and nice snacks. Fun fun fun !! Still, I was home early, at 1:48 ! Sunday I spent relaxing in the sun and playing Scrabble with my sisters. Great weekend, no question !
