The madness in Iraq continues. It is kind of interesting that most of the western soldiers that have been confirmed killed, were killed by their own men. Saddam only has to lean back and wait, sooner or later they will kill the rest of their soldiers

Great weekend by the way. Went on a jeep-safari withm my workmates. We drove around on the Reykjanes peninsula and stopped at scenic locations. First we stopped by a lake called Djúpavatn. Rumour has it that Geirfinnur is buried there, he was a guy that vanished almost 30 years ago and thus became the center of the most highly publicised murder case in icelandic history. We didn´t find him, even though we had to dogs with us that sniffed around. Oh well. Next we went to Vigdísarvellir, where we stopped briefly and examined an old latrine lying on its side. The next stop was at Selatangar, where we watched the magnificent surf. We also drove to another spot higher up where we watched the surf slamming against the cliffs. Then we decided to head home. On the way back we stopped by lake Grænavatn, a crater lake near Krýsuvík, and then made an attempt to see some hot springs by lake Kleifarvatn, but the ground was too soft for the cars so all we saw was the smoke :-)) Then we went home, tired after a great day. I only napped a short while, then went to a party. The hostess was my friend Magnea. It was quite fun, no heavy drinking, just nice converstations and music. Sunday I visited my friend Júlíana, she baked me a cake :-)) It took me almost an hour to get back home due to an accident on Vesturlandsvegur. Blööh. Finally, to top the weekend, I did the laundry, 3 machines so now we should have plenty of clothes for the coming week !!

Zo, time to call it a day and enjoy the weekend. Must pick up my sister Svanhildur from work first, and drop the silly thing in some remote location that will take her ages to get home from. Then again, my mother might complain about it so I guess I'll drive her home. Going on a jeep safari tomorrow, and a party tomorrow night. A walk with my sisters on sunday is a strong possibility. Howdy-ho ! Thought I spotted a mistake in my Visa-bill yesterday. Spent the night feeling irritated because of it, only to call this morning and find out there was a perfectly good explanation for it. So, more dentists to visit today, being a public health inspector can sometimes be a pain. Dentist have a tendency to be very arrogant towards the inspector, thinking that the job requirements are being able to read and write, not having a university degree. Grrrrd. Well, off I go.

Grmmmphhh. Very sleepy this morning. Am drinking coffee but it might take awhile for it to work. I was watching Enterprise, the latest Star Trek series, and it's on so late that it's impossible to go to bed early. Btw, isn't it interesting that nearly all intelligent life in the Universe are bipedal, erect humanoids ? (otherwise the cost of make-up and costume might kill the show :-))

Went to the graveyard today, to visit the grave of my sisters ex-husband. I couldn't find it so I called the information office and asked for the graveside number of Þorsteinn Þorsteinsson. To my surprise the woman thought that I was talking about a man by the same name that will be buried today. I thought it was an interesting coincidence. The woman on the phone thought so too. She guided me through the maze that is Gufuneskirkjugarður and I finally found the grave, covered with a blanket of snow and a simple white cross to mark it. I haven't been there since the funeral 2. december last year, and it surprised me to see how many new graves had been added. But that is the story of life, we will end the selfsame way. The graveyard was beautiful when covered in snow, very peaceful

Food for thought.... The Americans ar outraged because American prisoners of war are paraded on Iraqi TV. But they couldn't understand the outrage of the world when pictures were shown of the so called "prisoners of war" from Afgahnistan in the prison camp in Cuba. It's so much easier to critizise others for breaking the Geneva agreement, but hard to admit you are doing it too !
Great, wild weekend. Disco party at work on Friday, fun fun for every one :-) We danced the, eh, afternoon away (the affair started at 17:00 hours) but I was home with Hilda at 22:00 so I was a relativly nice girl (I even brought her some ice-cream). On Saturday I went to a summerhouse near Úlfljótsvatn with my very girlish friends. I'm afraid I can't tell you what transpired that evening (confidential information), let's just say the happenings were not for the faint of heart.......... Sunday I spent mopping and cleaning the stairs of my apartment house (must do once every 10 weeks) but later I relaxed and watched the Practise. In all, a great weekend. Horray !

Nice evening yesterday, spent it on the sofa chatting with my friends on the phone. Hmm, phone bill might be very impressive this month. Anyway, I was reading a book called Tell no one by Harlan Corben, I reccommend that author, his books are addictive. At least for me. Murder and mayhem, me likes

Alloooo !! A very nice weekend just passed, I feel refreshed. Yesterday I went hiking with my sister Steingerður and her daughter Eva in Þingvellir national park. The weather was great but the path was very muddy so at the end of the trip we were rather muddy :-) On our way back we drove through Selfoss and Stokkseyri, where we briefly stopped to look at the birdlife on the beach. Finally we stopped at the restaurant Rauða Húsið (Red house) in Eyrarbakki where we had some coffee and cakes. We came back to Reykjavík around 18:30 so the next step was to go home, jump into the couch and watch TV. There is such things as too much outdoor air and the best antidote is watching mindless TV. Even went to bed early, wow !
An amazing thing happened yesterday ! I baked a cake ! Yes, this is an event that will go down in history. And it even tastes good. It's called banana-spice cake, yummy. The book salesman came by and I fell for his pitch and bought a couple of books. When Hilda went with him to his car to get the books he gave her a cd with some popular icelandic music. She was very happy and excited, but I tried to run after the car and strangle him. Now I must listen to Írafár, Í svörtum fötum and other bands every day. The humanity of it !!
No place like home, so that's where I'm going to go. Been a long day so it's nice to go home and relax with a can of beer and a book. Too bad I was stupid enuff to accept an offer from a publishing company yesterday, one of their salesmen is coming by to show me some books and giving me a free gift. I always fall for the "free gift" part, SUCKER. Hope it won't take long, blaah.
