No legs today, my love has gone away...

Argh. When I came home today my legs were just ruined. I almost didn't make it up the stairs. Ugh. Have consumed a lot of painkillers and am now lying in bed trying to be comfortable. Am turning into a junkie, eating Naproxen and Ibufen all day. My days as a professional ballet dancer are over.

Wow, I've had so much action since I came home! Beer party at work on Friday, game night with my friend Gunna on Saturday and some dinner at Svanhildur's place, a confirmation party for Alex, daughter of my friend Cyndi on Sunday, Poseidon the new film on Sunday evening and finally tonight, dinner and a movie (Keeping mum) with Júlíana. FUN FUN FUN ! My life has started again ! I am reborn ! Weeee ! And, I have put an album with Bulgaria pictures under the My pictures link. Take a look !

Honey, I'm hooooooome !!!

I'm back ! From outer space ! Or from Bulgaria, whatever :-) The past two weeks were great: sand, sun and beer (that is, beer for me, something else for Hilda). We took a day-trip to Rumania so we visited two new countries in one trip. Hilda tried some new things, she went parasailing while her mother stood nervously watching on the beach. She also got shot up in the air in a giant sling shot (repeat image of nervous mother). I preferred to stay put on the ground :-) We also went sailing and both caught a fish, mine was about 25cm long, weee ! A huge catch :-) I'm posting some pictures now but will add an album in My pictures where you can see much more from this great trip. Hello again !

Hilda's graduation and Bulgaria here I come !!

Yesterday Hilda graduated from 7th grade and thus finished her school, Breidagerdisskóli. Next year she will attend Réttarholtsskóli, a school for grades 8-10. Of course she finished with great grades, 4 10s, 6 9,5s and a few 9, a couple of 8s and a 7,5. Woho !! (For people with other grading systems, not that 10 is highest here in Iceland). I'm so proud of her !!! The ceremony was 3 hours, complete with speeches, food and short films made by the kids. Hilda's groop made a really funny film, will put a link to it when it's awailable on the net. But my friends, it's time to go, the plane leaves for Bulgaria at 07:00. Back in 2 weeks, tah dah !!!

Planting, partying, visiting and relaxing day

Sunday sure was a busy day. First I went with my mother and bought a little juniper bush and some flowers to plant on my father's grave. We picked up my sister Steingerður, who actually has garden tools, and went to the graveyard. Steingerður did most of the planting, thus getting the most dirt on her clothes. After we finished the grave looked so much better. Forgot to take a picture, will do that later. When we were leaving, Hilda spotted some horses in a nearby field and we stopped to allow her to greet them. She became very popular when she fed them grass, the grass always being greener on the other side :-) Then Steingerður invited us over to her house where we had coffee and some goodies. My sister Magga also stopped by with my niece Guðlaug. Next stop was a summerparty held at Rjóðrið, a resting hospice for children with long term illnesses and disabilities. My support-son Steingrímur stayed there some days last month and will visit again this summer. Júlíana and her family picked me up and we went there together. The facility was great, good to see how much is done for the children there. We got some refreshments and listened to a former Idol contestant sing. Miss World showed up and posed for a picture with Steingrímur (a.k.a. Mr. Universe) :-). After leaving Rjóðrið we went to visit Júlíana's mother. There we had coffee and more goodies, this really was a day of high calorie intake ! The family then dropped me off at home after a good time together. So nice to meet the little guy, I miss him ! The evening was spent relaxing in the company of my friend Sigrún. We took a trip down memory lane after seeing the first episode of the Melrose Place re-run ! The show is the predecessor of other "quality" shows like O.C., One Tree Hill etc. YUK ! Well, after an eventful day and a lot of coffee, I can't sleep ! I have a doctor's appointment in the morning, some x-rays will be taken and some bloodtests. I'll then finish off with a bone density test. Must...get...sleep !

MmmmmmMexican chicken soup !

Saturday night I was at a dinner party hosted by my friend Sif and her boyfriend Bjarni. The gang was all there; Sonja, Gunna, Ella, Ágústa and Harpa, plus Sonja's husband Bjarni and Ella's husband Helgi. On the menu was Mexican chicken soup, slurp slurp ! Desert was a calorie bomb: crushed marenge with chocolate puffs, blueberries, strawberries and cream. Delicious ! We chatted away during and after dinner, it was great catching up and seeing each other again. I was seeing Sif's apartement for the first time and it was just great. Now I want to move as soon as possible too :-) Thank you all for a great evening guys and thanks to the hosts for a wonderful dinner :-)

Yet another dinner invitation and more still to come !

I'm so sad I could spring ! My sister Svanhildur invited me over for dinner. She made a delicious oven-baked fish with vegetables and brown rice. I must have had at least 4 helpings. Bless my soul. Svanhildur promised me that my portion was poisoned (we sisters have our special kind of way to say I love you) and I would die a painful death later. Well, I'm still alive, I spent the last 3 years getting immune to most common poisons (manic laugh). My nephews were of course as cute as ever, to state the obvious. Steinar likes to tease his parents by crawling into the small fireplace in the livingroom. Before he gets there he often pauses to get a reaction from them, laughing heartily when they tell him no and then continues into the fireplace. At this point I feel compelled to mention that the fireplace is never used and thus no fire to be worried about :-) Óli really loves my camera and is ready to drop anything to get it. First he sits with me and looks at the photos, then he takes it and moves further away from me on the sofa....then tries to run away with it :-) I have a number of pictures of him when he tries to reach for the camera :-) Lovely lovely dinner, thanks guys ! Tomorrow night I'm invited to dinner at my friend Sif's house. Sif has just moved into a new apartment and also celebrated her birthday on Wednesday. So, she invited a handful of friends and their spouses for dinner. Only one single person in the room... guess whooo ! It will be great fun, I can't wait ! Better fall asleep so tomorrow will be here sooner :-)
