Unglingalandsmót UMFÍ - Youth Sports Tournament 2005

Last Thursday I went with my sporty daughter Hilda to the annual Youth Sports Tournament (Unglingalandsmót UMFÍ). This year it was held in Vík í Mýrdal, a tiny town in S-Iceland. The competition started on Friday and Hilda won a bronze in kúluvarp (involves throwing a heavy ball from a circle). On Sunday she won a silver medal in hástökk (ehrm, high jump ?) and a gold medal for boðhlaup (team running short distances with a stick that is passed on to the next person, ehe). There were lot's of activities for the kids all weekend, and the weather was ok, although it rained a bit. I didn't look out for the sun because it was cloudy and was rewarded with a red, burned face :-( But today we drove home in miserable weather but still gave us time to stop and see some sights. Great weekend, very nice but me be very tired !
